  • First Look: Fasco Introduces A Cordless Fence Stapler

Big news coming from Alabama, as Fasco has finally announced a cordless fencing stapler is on its way. Nail Gun Depot has the scoop before anyone else. Keep reading on the Nail Gun Network to learn more.

If you're a fence builder, you've probably heard of Fasco's F46 40-315 pneumatic fence stapler, as it currently dominates the U.S. wire fencing industry. Up until now though, U.S. wire fence installers have been fairly limited in the fastening tools available to them - particularly when talking about cordless staplers. Fasco promises to change that.

    Fasco Cordless Fence Stapler

The first of its kind from Fasco, the 11616F cordless fence stapler brings cordless technology to the U.S. fence building industry. Designed to drive the same 10.5 gauge fencing staples as its air-powered sibling, the Fasco 11616F cordless stapler operates via combined use of battery-power and fuel cell. Capable of firing 5,200 shots per battery charge, and 1,200 shots per fuel cartridge, Fasco's cordless fence staple gun offers the best in utility, reliability and performance.

    Fasco Fence Staples

Most features from the Fasco F46 40-315 air-powered fencing stapler will carry over into the cordless model. In essence, it appears you'll get the same tool, but without the limitations of an air compressor and hose.

Users will enjoy a laundry list of features on the Fasco 11616F cordless fencing stapler, some of which include a top load magazine, single-shot actuation, adjustable depth of drive, and comfort grip. Ideal for all types of wire fencing attached to wood, including chain link fences, barbed wire, hi tensile wire, animal cages, live stock panel closures and much more, this is the cordless fencing stapler we've been waiting for. And, you get a carrying case, spare battery, battery charger and two fuel cells included with the tool, compliments of Fasco.

    Fasco Cordless Fence Stapler Specs

Don't forget. The Fasco 11616F does require both fuel cell and battery to operate. However, Fasco fuel cartridges can be interchanged with the Paslode 816000 IMCT red framer fuel cells.

    Fasco 11616F

More to come, once we've put this tool through its paces in the field. Look for the Fasco 11616F to officially hit the market sometime in late Fall 2016. In the meantime, would you trade your air hose and go cordless with this new Fasco fencing stapler?

  • Name-Brand Quality On Budget - Everwin & SureFit Make A...

There's a lot of "generic" competition when it comes to hardware and power tools. For the most part, these brands quickly earn a reputation for cheap, disposable products. But, every now and again, you find someone that gets it right. Those few select companies that can engineer a tool or fastener to name-brand specification, but still maintain bargain-brand pricing. Over the years, we've seen our share of winners - and losers - but two of our best finds yet are just now gaining the notoriety they deserve, especially when used together. That's right, we're talking about Everwin Pneumatic tools - paired with our top-quality lineup of SureFit fasteners.

    Everwin Tri-App

Here's why these two should be on YOUR radar.

Everwin Pneumatic may be relatively new to market, but they are far from inexperienced. In fact, the concept for Everwin was born in 2012, when several veteran tool engineers realized they could manufacture a pneumatic nailer, comparable in quality to products from Bostitch, Hitachi, MAX and others of the like, but without the vast overhead their competitors embrace.

    Everwin Tools

The outcome? A rapidly growing selection of pneumatic nailers and staplers, built to match the name-brand build quality a contractor or assembler requires, but offered at a fraction of the cost.

    Everwin Pneumatic

To date, Everwin has branched into several new categories of collated fastening tools, including wide and medium crown construction staplers, siding nailers, and carton closing staplers. Despite growth, Everwin's core product line, industrial coil nailers, remains the backbone of their business. Launching with the PN57 and PN70 model pallet nail guns, Everwin now offers more than ten industrial coil nailers, mostly pallet coil nailers for both handheld and automated use. To see Everwin's full selection of tools, click here.

    Everwin Construction Stapler

Take the plunge, we promise you'll love your Everwin just as much as its brand-name counterpart. With money to spare. But wait, there's more...

    Everwin Pallet Nailer

You'll need a quality fastener to go with your quality tool. We recommend SureFit fasteners, designed and built to brand-name specification - but available at a fraction of the cost. With a selection of collated framing nails, coil nails, roofing nails, hanger nails, finish nails, brads, carton staples, stick staples and several other series' to choose from, we suggest SureFit for any compatible nailer or stapler. Don't forget to add a box of SureFit nails or staples to your order!

    SureFit Nails

Still need an extra push? How about discount freight shipping, delivered to your door. Your volume fastener order may qualify for special freight shipping rates on Nail Gun Depot. Check best available rates to your area during checkout.

  • Nail Gun Depot Offers Discount Factory-Reconditioned Tools

Nail Gun Depot is proud to announce its expansion into Factory-Reconditioned Tools. The launch of this pre-owned program – featuring a regular rotation of lightly-used, factory-reconditioned nailers, staplers and screw guns - is rolling out the "red" carpet with several Senco tools in its inaugural run. The perk to this program; customers can now own a like-new tool at a fraction of the cost.

    But, what about quality?

The tools that come in as factory-reconditioned have only seen light use, often only used by a Weekend Warrior for a project or two, then returned. Prior to sale, each of our refurbished tools are inspected and serviced by trained technicians at the manufacturer. If required, repairs are made and factory-replacement parts are installed. These factory-reconditioned tools may show slight signs of use, but are sold in like-new working condition.

Take a look at Nail Gun Depot's first batch of reconditioned tools:

For heavy-duty construction, the Senco WC200XP (4Y0001R) factory-reconditioned wide crown stapler has a lightweight, well-balanced, and extremely durable design – making it a true workhorse. The WC200XP includes a new firing valve design for fast and powerful operation, EZ clear latch for fast jam removal, tool-free adjustable depth of drive, high-strength composite magazine, and durable exhaust cap for superior damage resistance. This heavy-duty stapler is excellent for lathing, attaching corrugated to skids, butt joints, furniture and cabinet frames.

    Senco 4Y0001R

If you're looking for something a bit smaller, but still packing a punch, we have the Senco Fusion F-16S (6U0001R) factory-reconditioned cordless li-ion finish nailer. The 6U0001R features Senco’s innovative "Fusion" technology, eliminating the need for expensive fuel cells without compromising performance. Additional features include optional sequential or bump-fire operation, nose mounted LED light, adjustable and reversible belt hook, depth of drive, rugged aluminum magazine, and patented reflex shot design for instant firing. This Senco cordless finish nailer is excellent for molding, furniture, cabinet frames and more.

    Senco 6U0001R

If you prefer the feel (and price) of a pneumatic finish nailer, consider the Senco FinishPro 18BMg (9B0001R) factory-reconditioned brad nailer. The Senco 9B0001R is designed with a lightweight magnesium body that improves user comfort and enhances durability. This brad nailer requires minimal maintenance thanks to its oil-free operation. Additional features include a nose-mounted LED light, narrow nose for tight spaces, metal cylinder for increased durability, and an EZ Clear latch that protects against fastener jams. The 9B0001R is great for cabinets, casing, paneling, woodworking and more.

    Senco 9B0001R

For the roofer, we have the Senco RoofPro 455XP (3D0101R) factory-reconditioned coil roofing nailer. The Senco 3D0101R features a tool-free adjustable depth of drive, adjustable shingle guide, aluminum body for longer life, and steel wear plates to reduce shingle wear on the tool. This RoofPro nailer is designed for installing asphalt and fiberglass shingles, waterproof tar paper, insulation board, re-roofing and new roofs.

    Senco 3D0101R

Installing drywall on a budget? No problem with the Senco DuraSpin DS235-AC (7T0001R) auto-feed screw system. The Senco DS235-AC features a fast 5,000 RPM motor – designed for contractor grade drywall installation. This corded (electric) screw gun is designed with a tool-free adjustable nose piece for different length screws, patented corner fit feed system for easy wall and corner access, adjustable depth of drive with depth lock, variable speed trigger with lock and reverse, rubber comfort grip, quick bit release, and 10 foot rubber cord. The 7T0001R is ideal for applications in drywall, subfloor, underlayment, cement board, sheathing to steel, metal framing and more.

    Senco 7T0001R

Again, please remember that Nail Gun Depot's inventory of reconditioned tools will be constantly changing, as new factory-reconditioned items become available, and existing items are depleted. Be sure to order early to ensure availability - and check back often to see new items added.

Are you ready to try recon?

  • How To Clear A Nail Jam From Your Framing Nail Gun

If you own a nail gun (or staple gun), it's inevitable that you'll eventually have to clear a jam from your magazine. Not to worry, with a few simple steps you can have your tool up and running again - without the down time and expense of taking it in for service.

    Nail Gun Nose

Here's what you have to do:

    1. Depending on the framing nailer you have, you may need to access the tool's magazine. To do this, you will need to consult your manufacturer's owner manual for guidance, as this step may vary based on the model of tool you have. For example, some Senco FramePro stick nailers feature rear magazine mounting screws, which might need removal to allow proper access.
    2. To get to the jam, you'll need to first pull the magazine track away from the framing nailer's nose.
    3. Then, using a screw driver or hammer (we've also found success using a nail punch), gently strike the driver past the jammed nail. You should now be able to remove the jammed nail(s).
    4. Now, reassemble your magazine, and reinstall any mounting screws or other components altered during Step One.

Unfortunately, there's a good chance you'll experience a jam or two - even with a top-tier nailer or stapler. To help prevent the issue, only use fasteners that meet the specification of your tool. You should also verify the tool is loaded properly, and always use the manufacturer's recommended air pressure for pneumatic models.

Still in a jam? Contact Nail Gun Depot's service experts for further advise.

  • How To Install Radiant Floor Heating

Homeowners ask, why upgrade to radiant floor heating? Picture this, it's a chilly morning and you take that first barefoot step onto a cold tile floor. The touch sends a chill straight through your body.

    Radiant Floor Heating

If you're fed-up with frigid floors, there's an alternative - radiant floor heating. Not only a benefit to your feet, heated flooring is a popular selling feature among prospective home buyers. And, installation is easier than you think.

PROJECT NOTE: You will have to remove your existing outer flooring when installing above the sub-floor. If you aren't prepared to re-tile or replace existing floors, don't start without the proper budget, materials and professional guidance. When installing above sub-floor, you will also have to cover the radiant heating grid with a layer of gypsum - or concrete - once the heating unit has been properly secured to the sub-floor. Any flooring material installed above the layer of gypsum can be installed as you would install flooring over a concrete surface.

    Spotnails Radiant Floor App

Compared to other methods, such as hot water heating or forced air, radiant floor systems disperse warmth evenly, as they are designed to cover a maximum square footage for any given space. Typically used in tile bathrooms, radiant heat can be used in other areas of the home that present the proper conditions for installation.

PROJECT TIP: Before installation, confirm all electrical and structural specifications for the space you are working meet code. We recommend contacting a licensed electrician and general contractor to ensure your project is being completed both safely and legally. Confirm that the addition of radiant heating will not overload your existing circuits or create another hazard. Be sure to follow the installation instructions and consult professional expertise as required. Never work with live wires.

When ready to start, installation can be done two ways, either above the sub-floor or below it. In either instance, you'll need to make sure the radiant mat is stapled into place and secured to the sub-floor before proceeding. Spotnails offers two tools designed specifically for radiant flooring installation, the X1S1640RFH and the X1S3640RFH. Both of these wide crown construction staplers are designed specifically for the installation of radiant flooring.

    Spotnails Radiant Floor Stapler

Installing your radiant heating system above the sub-floor? Spotnails offers an attachable pogo stick (AS-99090), which eliminates the need to bend over for stapling. Simply place the tool's nose on your desired point of fastening, and pull the walking stick's trigger to activate.

As we mentioned earlier, once the wiring has been harnessed, connected and tested per your radiant flooring mat manufacturer's instruction, you will need to protect the radiant heating system by either installing insulation (for under sub-floor radiant flooring), or by adding a layer of gypsum (over sub-floor radiant floor installation).

  • Fence Stapler Showdown - Freeman PFS9 vs. Fasco F46

For several years, the fence stapling market has been dominated by few select brands. Recently, this niche industry received some new competition, as Freeman Tools introduced their PFS9 fence stapler. The Freeman fence stapler offers many of the same features as its Paslode and Fasco counterparts - but at a fraction of the cost. Today, we're going to put the Freeman PFS9 head-to-head with its closest rival, the Fasco F46 40-315 pneumatic fence stapler.

    Fasco Fence Banner

Arguably one of the most recognizable tools in fence stapling, the Fasco F46 has earned a spot at the top of its class. Loaded with options that include a well-balanced and lightweight design, powerful motor for hardwood applications, form fitting nose designed for wire fence installation, on board adjustable depth of drive, and a comfortable non-slip rubber hand grip - this Fasco bundles a professional setup with tried and tested quality.

    Fasco F46 Fence Stapler

A new kid on the block, Freeman Tools' PFS9 fencing stapler is quickly gaining notoriety as key competition - earning its own spot toward the top. Very similar to the Fasco F46 pneumatic fence stapler, the Freeman Tools PFS9 is designed specifically for applications in livestock fencing, field fencing, horse fencing and heavy mesh fencing - among other similar uses with wire fencing. This fence stapler features a magnesium housing, one-piece drive blade, adjustable depth of drive, 360 adjustable exhaust, air filter, quick-jam release, T-handle (for added control), top load magazine, wire alignment notch, belt hook, and comes with plastic carrying case.

    Freeman PFS9

So, what are the major differences between a Freeman and Fasco fence stapler?

    • PRICE: Considerably the strongest factor in dictating which of the two tools you purchase, the Freeman PFS9 is less than half the cost of a Fasco F46 fence stapler. Currently on Nail Gun Depot for $349, compare Freeman to the $769 price tag for its Fasco counterpart.

    • WARRANTY: Don't be fooled, the low price on Freeman's fence stapler doesn't necessarily translate to a lower build quality. To make that known, the PFS9 is backed by a seven-year limited warranty. In comparison, Fasco's F46 fence stapler comes with a standard one-year manufacturer's warranty.

    Freeman PFS9 Fence Stapler

THE VERDICT: The fact is, both staple guns have their merits. If you're looking for a tool that comes with several years of industry use, recognition and praise, we'd recommend the Fasco F46 fence stapler. For those shopping on budget, or who are only planning to use their fence stapler periodically, we'd suggest giving the Freeman PFS9 a shot. With a seven-year warranty and significantly lower price, it's hard not to give Freeman a second look.
