Wedge anchors are commonly referred to as ‘concrete stud anchors,’ but the Simpson Strong-Tie Strong-Bolt 2 STB2-372344SS 3/8” x 2-3/4” is no ordinary wedge anchor. Its concrete and masonry applications are wide and include ductwork, fire sprinklers, cable supports, roof flashing, elevators & escalators and more! The STB2-372344SS can be mounted vertically, horizontally, or even overhead increasing its versatility.

This Strong-Bolt 2 Wedge Anchor and all its components are made of type 304 stainless steel, so they are corrosion resistant in damp and outdoor environments. Speaking of outdoors—the Strong-Bolt 2 is code listed for high wind and seismic areas. This wedge-type expansion anchor is designed for use in cracked and uncracked concrete and masonry jobs.

Installation of the Strong-Tie Strong-Bolt 2 is EASY! Follow these steps and tips.

• To install the Strong-Bolt 2 Wedge Anchor, select a drill bit matching the size of the anchor’s diameter. Make sure you have the right location—the Strong-Bolt 2 is NOT removable.
• Drill to the specified depth, making sure not to over drill. Oversized holes in the base material will make it hard for the anchor to expand properly, and as a result the load capacity will be diminished.
• Clear any dust from hole with compressed air or shop vacuum—an overhead application does not need to be blown clean. Gravity will clear the debris.
• Assemble the Strong-Bolt 2 so that the nut is flush with the top of the anchor and the washer is below the nut. (The anchor head is stamped with the length identification letter with bracketed top and bottom horizontal lines.
• Place the assembled wedge anchor into the fixture and drive it into the base hole until the nut and washer are tight. Do not use an impact wrench to tighten the Strong-Bolt 2. Simply finger tighten the anchor or tighten to the specified concrete installation torque.
• You are done! You now have superior holding, corrosion resistance, seismic and wind protection, and the peace of mind you need.
